Did you know?
1. Mozzies lay their eggs on and around still and stagnant water
2. They can lay more than 300 eggs at once
3. They only take 8-10 days to breed
That’s a lot of extra mozzies around your home each week!
Tip: To reduce mozzies around your home, empty water-holding containers once a week.
If we all do our bit in our own backyards, together we can protect the community.

Are you unsure about which mozzie repellent to use?
The most effective and safe repellents contain at least one of the following active ingredients:
- Picardin
- Deet
- Oil of lemon eucalyptus
Tip: pump sprays are generally more effective than aerosols because they are easier to rub on to your skin. Always read and follow the instructions on the label.

Pet water bowls are a common mozzie breeding site in our backyards.
Tip: Empty, wipe out and refill your pet water bowls with fresh water once a week. This will stop mozzies breeding and keep your pets safe.

Applying mozzie repellent is easy, but there are a few things you should know to make sure you’re doing it correctly.
Tip: Apply repellent directly and evenly to all areas of exposed skin – like sunscreen.
Mozzies will find and bite any areas that you miss!

Mozzie myth buster!
Myth: Some plants repel mosquitoes.
Fact: Unfortunately not. The essential oils from some Australian trees, shrubs and herbs repel mosquitoes, but only after they have been extracted and concentrated.
They don’t offer protection from mozzies as plants in your garden.
